The CTO of IBM Quantum Safe has warned that quantum computers could potentially execute "moonshot attacks" – large-scale, disruptive decryption operations against high-value targets – as early as 2029. Cloudflare has a track record of enhancing internet security; it began offering free universal SSL certificates in 2014, a move that significantly boosted web encryption. Its journey toward post-quantum readiness started in 2019 with initial migration preparations. By 2022, Cloudflare had enabled post-quantum encryption for all websites and APIs served through its platform.
