Bezos' Project Prometheus Hires xAI Co-founder from OpenAI to Bolster AI Infrastructure

Jeff Bezos' startup Project Prometheus has reportedly hired Kyle Kosic, a co-founder of Elon Musk's xAI who most recently worked at OpenAI, as reported by the Financial Times. Kosic, known for leading the infrastructure behind xAI's Colossus supercomputer, will continue to work on AI infrastructure at Prometheus.

The startup, co-led by Bezos and former Google executive Vikram Bajaj, is focused on building AI systems designed to understand the physical world, with a particular emphasis on tasks in areas such as engine design and engineering. Prometheus has already recruited hundreds of employees across its offices in San Francisco, London, and Zurich. According to the FT, Bezos and Bajaj are aiming to raise tens of billions of dollars for a permanent investment vehicle that would acquire stakes in companies across various industries, including aerospace and architecture.
