Anthropic Secures Massive Compute Deal with SpaceX for Colossus I, Boosting Claude Agent Capabilities and Reporting 8000% Annualized Growth

Anthropic held its second annual developer event today, marked by a robust agenda focused on strategic partnerships and product enhancements. While some anticipated a major new model release, the key announcements centered on a significant partnership with SpaceX, three new features for Claude Managed Agents, and a review of advancements over the past six months.

Following approval from Elon Musk—strategically timed, perhaps, with his ongoing lawsuit against OpenAI—Anthropic is set to rapidly take over all compute capacity of Colossus I within days. This deal is estimated at approximately $5 billion per year, effectively positioning xAI as a new "neocloud" provider.

Another highlight was a moderated session with the Amodei siblings, who announced the company's remarkable 80x growth, equating to an 8000% annualized increase, alongside commentary on US and Chinese competitors.

Dario Amodei shared his insights on key industry trends:

  • Tiny Teams: He envisions 2026 as the year a one-person, billion-dollar company becomes a reality. Amodei emphasized the immense capability for individuals or small teams to achieve incredible feats. He noted the shift from models writing code to models aiding in software engineering tasks, and further, to models assisting in conceptualizing and building business or economic units.
  • Multiagents: Amodei described the evolution from a "team of smart people in a room" to a "country of geniuses in a datacenter" through the development of multiagent systems.
  • Enterprise Services: While Claude Code enhances individual productivity, Anthropic aims to increasingly empower entire teams and organizations, making them more productive and their collective output greater than the sum of their parts.
  • Bottlenecks: Beyond accelerating Claude itself, Amodei considers Amdahl’s Law, focusing on areas like security and verifiability. The goal is to identify and eliminate bottlenecks in software engineering, thereby speeding up the overall development process.

Other mainstage sessions included critical Claude Code updates:

  • Enhanced content on the "Inner vs. Outer Loop" for the automatic improvement of agents.

The news cycle heavily focused on compute resources, Claude Code limits, and the strategic direction of Anthropic's agent platform. Officially, Anthropic announced a new compute partnership with SpaceX designed to "substantially increase" capacity. This will immediately translate into higher usage limits for Claude products: specifically, Claude Code's 5-hour rate limits are doubled for Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise tiers, and peak-hours limit reductions have been removed for Pro and Max users.
