According to a report by Business Insider, AI powerhouse Anthropic has secured a massive compute power deal with Elon Musk's SpaceX. The contract, inked in May, is expected to generate approximately $1.25 billion in monthly revenue for SpaceX, marking a significant milestone in the AI infrastructure market.
The primary objective of the deal is to provide Anthropic with the necessary computational resources to support its rapidly expanding AI business and the ongoing development of its Claude models. Under the terms of the agreement, Anthropic will gain access to compute power hosted within SpaceX's Colossus and the upcoming Colossus 2 data centers.
The utilization of the Colossus clusters—infrastructure previously associated primarily with Musk's AI venture, xAI—indicates that SpaceX is positioning itself as a key provider in the high-end AI compute sector. This transaction highlights the extreme scarcity of GPU resources and demonstrates how SpaceX is diversifying its revenue streams beyond aerospace and satellite internet into critical AI infrastructure services.
