Auto Mode: Research Preview & Eligibility

Auto mode is a revolutionary "hands-free" mode where a safety classifier model vets actions in the background.

Eligibility Requirements

Dimension Requirement
Version Claude Code v2.1.83 or higher
Plan Max, Team, Enterprise, or API (Pro is not eligible)
Admin Must be enabled by admin for Team/Enterprise accounts
Model Sonnet 4.6 / Opus 4.6 / Opus 4.7
Provider Anthropic API only (Bedrock / Vertex not supported)

Why is it restricted?

Auto mode relies on a secondary, independent "Safety Classifier" model that Anthropic hosts. It is currently a Research Preview and is subject to usage and availability limits.

If you see "auto mode unavailable", it's likely due to one of the requirements above not being met.
