OpenHarness is an open-source, lightweight Python framework developed by HKUDS, providing essential infrastructure for building and deploying advanced AI agents. It functions as a comprehensive "Agent Harness," equipping large language models with critical capabilities such as robust tool-use (43+ tools), skill management, persistent memory, and sophisticated multi-agent coordination. Key features include a streaming agent loop with parallel execution, context compression, multi-level governance with interactive approval, and a versatile plugin ecosystem. OpenHarness enables researchers and developers to understand, experiment with, and extend production-grade AI agents. It supports CLI integration and facilitates the creation of specialized agents like ohmo, an intelligent assistant capable of long-session tasks such as code generation, testing, and PR management across platforms like Feishu, Slack, and Telegram, utilizing existing LLM subscriptions.
